Our Advanced Scrambling Course in Snowdonia offers experienced scramblers the skills to venture onto the higher grade scrambles. As well as experiencing some of the classic mountain scrambles, we’ll equip you with the skills and techniques needed to ascend grade 2 and 3 routes. There is a lot to cover. Route choice, weather considerations, equipment selection, gear placement, rope skills, belaying, movement skills and navigation will all be covered. We’ll also share a few other useful tips to get you off the beaten track for your future adventures.

All our scrambling courses are run in Snowdonia. This mountain playground is easily accessible by road and public transport. It also has a well established infrastructure for visitors. There is nowhere quite like it for convenient world class mountaineering.

Who is the Scrambling Snowdonia course suitable for?

Our Advanced Scrambling Course is for anyone who has some scrambling experience on grade 1 routes (for example; Crib Goch, Striding Edge, Sharpe Edge, Tryfan, ) and wishes to progress into a mountaineer. Alternatively, for those with climbing experience on single pitch routes who are looking to get out and enjoy bigger mountain adventures. You will be learning the various skills and techniques needed to progress confidently and safely on grade 2 and grade 3 scrambles. The aim of this course will be that you can then independently enjoy grade 2/3 scrambles throughout the UK.

Why choose snowdonia and north wales for your scrambling course?

Northern Snowdonia has one of the highest concentations of scrambling routes in the UK. Venues are chosen on the day to suit the weather and the group but can include Tryfan, the Glyders, Crib Goch (in perfect weather with an experienced group) and some of the less known rocky ridges dependent upon the weather. Snowdonia is an ideal base as it offers a wide range of scrambles from gullies to exposed ridges. Even the most remote scrambles in Snowdonia can be accessed within 90minutes, some are almost roadside . You may also finish on or close to to give a true mountain experience. Having the ability to follow the scrambling routes also means you will often avoid the crowds on the main paths – a definite bonus!

Experience Required:

You should have summer hillwalking experience and solid experience on grade 1 scrambles and/or  have summer single pitch rock climbing experience.

 

Age Limit:

Must be over 14 with parent or guardian present.

Equipment Provided:

We provide all technical equipment. You will need the usual summer walking gear with appropriate footwear.
