Who is gorge walking Snowdonia suitable for?
Gorge walking is suitable for the whole family. Anyone above 8yrs old should have no problem. Also good for adults that don’t want the challenge of the Canyoning adventure. Suitable for most fitness levels. All elements of the gorge walk are avoidable and escape from the gorge is relatively easy in most places. Popular with groups, individuals and amazing fun for stag /hen parties.
What is your gorge walking day like?
We usually meet near Betws y Coed or Ffestiniog depending on water levels. After a further 10 minute drive we arrive at the Gorge Walking venue. We then change into our plush warm canyoning wetsuits and all other safety equipment.
After a safety briefing and short walk the fun begins. You will find yourself boulder hopping and the kids squealing with delight. It is soon time to get wet. A refreshing dip in the pure mountain water. Once the first dip is out of the way the wetsuit will start to do its work. It will keep you warm and ready for a spot of wild swimming and even an invigorating spin in a gorge walking natural washing machine.
If you didn’t manage a shower in the morning……not a problem. Numerous spectacular waterfalls will leave you cleansed. If you are
brave you could also try the ultimate powershower , a pummelling under a phenomenal 10m waterfall! Further along the gorge you will find yourself hurtling downstream in one of many natural waterslides, terrific fun. Next comes what looks like an impregnable band of rock. Look carefully though and there is a sneaky route up. Pit your climbing skills against the short rockface and power your way up. Don’t worry about the drop. You will be secured by a rope on this section!
More gorge walking follows and leads us to the last awesome jump into a small deep clear pool. You have made it, challenge accepted and overcome. Calories burnt, body satisfyingly tired, comfort zone stretched, fantastic memories made. Time for a well earnt drink and maybe a bag of chips!!
